Hello Bill Darling;
Well here it is the night before Halloween and I am going to take my time writing this letter to you. First darling let me say that I am so sorry that I have not written to you sooner but I have been burning the candle at both ends this week and I figured that I would have so much to tell you dear that I would save it all up for one big letter.
I went to the doctor this week with Mother and first let me put all your fears to rest dear that everything is fine. I took a day off from work as I was not sure how long I would be at the doctors and my appointment was for 10Am in the morning. I was able to eat my breakfast dear and to be honest I was not nervous at all in the morning but once we stepped foot into the doctors office my stomach just about dropped out of me. Darling I immediately thought all bad thoughts because of what happened down there but once I sat down in the waiting room and they called my name I went in to see the doctor and I was not afraid anymore. He did his examination and told me everything was grand and that we can expect our baby in April. I am now calling it a baby now dear as the doctor told me everything was fine and I am in good health and I am putting on the right amount of weight. So dear we can now have our own little celebration when you get home at Christmas.
Once I got home I had a big glass of milk and a few cookies as I was hungry again. So now how are you feeling dear? I hope that you are as happy as I am and that you will now only think of the good things that we will do once we have our own little home.
This week I went over to see your Mom and Pop twice and each time we have a wonderful chat. You Pop was outside tinkering with the car and he left your Mom and me alone while we talked. We talked about your Aunt and how excited she is to be a great Aunt and I think she will live up to that name. Your Mom had word from Mrs. Dean and she was still up north but was expecting to come home soon before the weather turns too cold. As usually dear I had a wonderful visit.
Darling I was reading your last letter for a third time and yes, I do remember all those Sunday night where you used to come over to my place and we would have supper with my folk and then we would all go for a walk or we would listen to the radio and dear and I truly remember those times with love in my heart. We would sit for hours and talk and listen to the radio and every once and a while you would stand up and we would have a dance to one of our favourite songs. I remember all of those times fondly dear and I know from the bottom of my heart that we will have many more years to do all of these things and even more.
Why were you and the boys talking about hope chests dear? I think that is rather funny that the Air Force men would be sitting around in the barracks talking about hope chests and not doing Air Force stuff. But if talking about pillow cases and tea cups gives all of you some hope about what to fight this war over, then I think it is a swell notion for you to talk about. I know how excited I was to fill up my hope chest and thinking about all the nice things in there made me so happy so why can’t that be true for all you fellows down there. I think the difference dear is that you already have a loving wife who can’t wait to use all of those lovely things in our place and some of the fellows are just waiting to get married so that they can have what we have.
I have not heard anything more about Ted and Marg moving as of yet but I am sure that they are busy planning their travel arrangements back to Ontario. Won’t that be swell that she is so close now dear and that we all might have a chance to see her before Christmas. Bill Darling once you know for sure how much time you get at Christmas and New Years will you promise to write me and let me know immediately? I just want to make sure we have some time together and where we will be staying and the idea of having a big Christmas party with all of our friends but I will leave that up to you to let me know.
So darling, I will close this letter by saying I am feeling wonderful and I am very excited to see you in 2 months back here in Toronto.
Loving you more and more each day, from your loving wife,
Well here it is Sunday evening dear and I have certainly been thinking about you an awful lot today dear. I received your last letter yesterday and was very glad to hear form you as usual.
I have not done very much since I last wrote you dear. Wednesday and Friday nights Norm and I went to the station show and Thursday night we went to the boxing and wrestling show they had on at the station. Saturday night they had a dance on the station but I stayed in and caught up on my washing. I just can’t seem to get interested in dancing when you aren’t with me darling I guess I just love you so much dear.
There was a show on at the station tonight but I had already seen it so Norm and I decided to just catch up on our letter writing. We went to the Capital this afternoon though and saw ” How Proudly we Hail” and it was very good. I am enclosing a clipping that was in the Toronto Star. I don’t know whether you have seen it or not.
One of the boys was telling me that the Glendennings have got a little baby girl, you met them when you first came down here. It won’t be very long for us now darling and I’m certainly looking forward to it.
Norm and I were just talking about all the good times we used to have back home, do you remember those swell Sunday nights we used to spend together. I’ll never forget them and when I used to wish your Mom and Pop would hurry to bed so that we could be alone. I used to like you an awful lot then darling but nothing like the way I love you now. Yes our marriage has certainly made us close hasn’t it.
I’ll try and send your Pop my long underwear this week dear. I guess that they will fit him. I’m glad to hear that you are going to the doctor at the end of the month and do not forget to ask him when you are to quit work. I think that you should stop at the end of the moth dear because I think your have worked long enough dear and we don’t need the money. So darling think it over and let me know and don’t forget to wear low shoes now, and not high heels.
I hear that my Aunt is getting a few little things together and she is tickled over it but keep it under your hat dear. (Pardon me while I have chocolate dear – Norm just bought a 2 pound box of Laura Secord)
By the way dear I bought the Bond and I’ll be getting it in a month or so and I guess that I might as well wait until Christmas to bring it home. My mother said that my Aunt bought her bonds through the bank.
The boys were just talking about the hope chests that their girl friends have just about filled and I said that they might as well get married as soon as they can because if they were as happy and contented as we were dear they wouldn’t be sorry and I mean that honey. I think that we are about the best suited couple I’ve ever seen and that is the way it will always be dear. I just want you to have a real nice home dear and everything you want and you can bet that I will do everything on my power to give them to you, and even though we might be separated for a while I will make it all up to you.
Well darling I’m afraid that is about all for now and so to the best little wife int he world, love from the bottom of my heart.
Your very loving husband,
Well darling here it is Wednesday evening and I have just come in from work and I decided to sit right down and write you a letter before I have to get supper on the go and then I will be going out to the show with Dot from the office.
Everyone here is doing swell darling and Mom and Pop and Beverley are fine and so are your folks. I have been going over to see them at least once or twice a week dear and they are hoping to get a letter form you soon so please take some time and write them a line or two will you?
As I mentioned I am going to the show tonight with Dot. She asked he to go with her because the fellow she is going out with is away on business so she asked me to join her tonight. I like her a lot dear and she is such a good confidante at the office as well as when we go out in the evenings. She is so excited for us to become parents as I think she is not one who wants to have children which I really cannot understand dear. I think that there is nothing more lovely than a husband and a wife sharing their love with little ones and that is what I think we will do with our little one when “she” comes along, don’t you agree darling?
I have been putting on weight more and more each day, or maybe I think I am putting on weight but I think it is wonderful and things are really progressing nicely from what my Mother tells me. As I told you in my other letter dear I will be going to the doctor at the end of the month so I just keep hoping and praying that everything is coming along as we want darling. I have had no other bad signs like I did before and I think that this time we will be seeing a bundle of joy in April some time but I am guessing that the doctor will let me know for sure when I see him.
That is just horrible about the picture frame and all that glass being broken when it was sent down here dear. That is why whenever I need to send something to you I make sure to go to the post office and I have them pack the box for you dear, that way whatever I am sending down I can rest assured that it will make it all the way down to you in one piece. But as I think about it dear I never really send anything down to you that can be broken like a picture frame. I will be sending down to you the pictures that you have been asking for and I certainly do hope that you like them , I think I look rather swell in them.
I am very exciting dear that your Christmas leave is coming up soon as I cannot believe that we have been separated again for almost 3 months and it will be another 2 months before you are back home darling. I think as you said in your last letter that Germany might be on her last legs well I hope you are correct dear and that this war will be over soon and we can get to having our own little bungalow as you always say and that we will have such wonderful times decorating it and looking after our baby.
Bill dear what is happening with the long underwear that you were supposed to be sending back to my Pop? Have you found them and are you sending home home soon or are you going to bring them with you when you come home at Christmas?
I am doing some daydreaming as well dear when I am heading into work thinking about us taking the little one along the Danforth and stopping in for something to eat or even just being at home the 3 of us spending all of our time together and making sure that our little one has as much love as we have for each other dear, I think that would be just wonderful.
Well dear I need to close this letter now as I will have to go down and make supper for everyone and then I will have to go and get ready to meet Dot for the show. So loving you more and more each day and counting down the days until you are back home with me and we can celebrate together.
Love from you still wee wife,
Well dear I have just finished reading your very nice letter and also your very nice cheque and thanks very much darling.
I will pick up the bond down here and send it home to you or I could bring it home with me at Christmas and that won’t be soon enough for me darling. Thanks for trying to get all your Aunts to buy them down here but I’m not counting on winning those extra days very much because some guy down here in another section just bought $2400 worth of bonds which isn’t small beans.
Well darling I certainly haven’t been doing much lately. Sunday afternoon I went to the Capital with Bob and saw “Best Foot Forward” with Harry James but it was rather disappointing over all. Sunday night Madeline Carroll was supposed to come to the Forum but due to bad weather she couldn’t make it so I went to the station show and saw a Henry Aldrich picture and it wasn’t too bad. Last night I went to the station show again and saw one of the saint pictures and you know how much I love those and after that Norm and I played a game of snooker and I beat him so he treated me to a nice big cup of Ovaltine and then I went to bed.
I had a card from Keith Davis he is down in New York you know he said that he liked it very much down there but it was rather expensive to live, but I guess he would like to get home to see his little daughter.
So Ted is getting posted to Uplands that will be nice and I certainly envy him but for every fellow that gets the breaks like that there is a hundred who get posted away from their wives and so honey I think that I’m pretty lucky that I can look forward to seeing the best little wife in the world in about 2 months.
So you are getting chubby? I bet you look pretty cute right now darling and I was looking forward to those pictures you said that you were going to take so don’t forget them darling.
Lloyd’s wife sent a picture down in a frame and it was really a mess when he received it. the glass was all broken and the frame was twisted so I guess it isn’t a very good idea to send a picture like that by parcel post.
I saw Jack Dowds today and he was asking for you darling. He is doing quite a bit of travelling around lately and he is going to St. John N.B tomorrow so I guess he really must be enjoying himself but he looks even thinner than usual so I guess they must be working him pretty hard.
We are getting good meals down here as usual and lots of sugar jam and butter and today we had all the ice cream for dinner that we could eat so I put some cherry jam on mine and made a cherry sundae, and I making you hungry dear?
As yet we haven’t heard any news about getting Christmas leave, or whether we might be getting an extra 14 days a year but I think that they are deducing something up in Ottawa and I wouldn’t be surprised if we did get some extra leave. At any rate I still have my 4 days from my leave coming to me so I can count on getting home sometime.
Well there is a dance on at the station tonight but Norm and I are going out for a change. We are going to the show and see “The Last of the Mohicans”.
Well darling the war news are still saying another 3 or 4 months ought to see a lot of big events. Do you remember what I said in a letter about a month ago? Well I am still willing to bet you that by Christmas Germany will really be on her last legs. I certainly hope so darling because I am doing a lot of day dreaming about us darling. It will really be wonderful to be in our own place with the baby and coming home to you dear. I don’t think I’ll ever want to go out of Toronto for a year after I get home.
Well darling I think that is about all for now and thanks for your offer of getting your Aunts to buy their bonds through me but I don’t think it is worth it darling and so honey I’ll write you on Thursday or so and until then from your very loving husband,
Well dear I just came up from supper and I decided to sit right down and write you a letter and seeing as it is Friday night I thought I would be able to tell you all the news.
How have you been keeping dear, I hope that you are doing well and not spending all your time working and going to the stations shows. I certainly do hope that your inspection went well and that you fellows did all you needed to do in order to make sure that the barracks were tidy and ship shape for your Commanding officer. If I know you dear you had nice tight corners on your bunkie and you made sure all the boys around you did as well.
This week has been one filled with the same old routine dear that I have now settled into now that I am back with my folks and going to work on a daily basis. There has been some talk in the office that the holiday hours might be extended to the first of December seeing as we were so busy last year but nothing is definite yet dear. But I think that I will not be working at that time of year anyways giving my current situation and well, I will make the decision closer to the date dear.
Bill darling you were telling me about the Bond drive you were having back down there and that if your area raised the most that you could possibly get more days off at Christmas. Well dear I made sure to tell your Mom and Pop and then they told your Aunts so we are all going to buy the bonds in hopes that you are successful in winning that prize. So I will be sending down with this letter the cheque for our bond dear and I would imagine that your folks and your aunts will send down separate ones in their letters. I have everything crossed dear that you win.
I am glad to hear that you and the fellows are getting great use out of you new lounge dear, and I think you mentioned that all the game tables and card tables were in the lounge so I hope that you do not spend all your time betting away your pay.
The exciting news around here is that we got a letter form Marg and Ted and it seems that Ted will be posted to the Uplands back here in Ontario. I am not sure when this is supposed to happen but I am guess darling that they will be sending him down here rather soon so that is good news for everyone all around. I guess Marg will be very happy to be getting back to Ontario and that we will have chance to see her once and a while as I am guessing that she will not be moving back in with the Simpsons and to be honest I am very glad that she is making that choice. It seems that Marg and Ted have been getting along so well since she moved down there with him dear and I can only imagine what fun they are having in their own littler room, but not as much fun as we had eh dear?
As I told you before I am going to go to the doctors at the end of the month darling so that is all decided and we can hope for all the best. I am feeling rather well now and I think I am having all the right signs too dear. I did speak with Mother and she said that it is all in gods hands but she said that everything that is happening to my is what happened to her and that is good to hear as Beverley turned out just fine. That is if you consider all the crying that she does otherwise she is just a sweet little girl.
So darling that is all the news right now as I plan to have a quite night at home and get to my bed early as tomorrow we plan to do our shopping own the Danforth and I might take in a movie with Doris as she knows that I am not allowed to go dancing as my loving husband has told me. Bill dear I miss you so very much and I wish that you were here with me when all of these exciting are happening but we will have all the time in the world to experience new things once you get home for good.
So loving you more and more each day and from the bottom of my heart,
Your loving wife
Well dear I have received your last letter OK and I am sorry that I didn’t get a chance to answer it, but I really have been busy this week. We are having a big inspection this Saturday and we have been practicing in the mornings and I’ll tell you that it has been the earliest I’ve got up for a long time.
I’m also on the canvassing committee for the Vickary Loan and I was at a meeting last night. It was a smoker and they served beer but you know me. The section that buys the most will get an extra 3 days leave at Christmas so you can bet that I’m really going after it so I was wondering dear if we shouldn’t buy a 100$ bond or so. So think it over dear and send me a cheque for what you think, you had better make it soon as possible because the start of the drive is next week.
Well honey lets talk about us now, how are you keeping? Well I hope. You seem to be very well according to your letters and I am glad to hear it dear.
I have just finished reading a letter from my Pop and he was saying that you were all up the house on Sunday so I guess you all had a really good time. Oh darling I certainly miss you more each day and I am glad that I am busy most of the time so that I can forget about things for a while.
So you managed to get five pictures taken well that is a start anyway dear and I’m certainly looking forward to receiving them.
Out new lounge and canteen officially opened tonight so that is what I’ll be doing this evening. They have certainly made a swell job of it and since they are going to have the odd open house there with dances and parties etc. I certainly wish that you were down here to enjoy it with me.
Well dear you know that there are a lot of fellows trying to get into the Air crew as they are recruiting for the job something awful. But you don’t have to worry a bout me dear because I want to be around when I become a father and boy the time is certainly getting shorter only about 9 more weeks darling before Christmas anyway and I’ll be home with the loveliest little wife in the world and darling that is what you are to me.
I heard by the news last night that the Air Force and Army are taking over the business of leaves so they still might decide to give us some extra leave yet, here’s hoping so anyway darling because it would be real nice to be able to get home every 6 months for 2 weeks.
Well dear you haven’t said that you have been to Doctors yet are you going to go darling? I’ll leave it up to you dear to decide when to go but I think that it is about time now. What does your Mom think and you can ask him about working when you go because as I have said before dear I think that you should quit and take life easy for a while because you really do deserve it darling.
I’m glad you liked your purse darling. I was going to phone you on Sunday night and darn it all I thought was that I was not going to be able to get a hold of you so let me know when you will be up at our house and I’ll give you a call.
Well dear I have to hurry up to got o our meeting now and so for now darling I love you very much and just wait and I’ll really prove it to you when I get home for Christmas.
Your very loving, if not a little lonely husband,
Well here it is Sunday afternoon again dear and I have just finished playing Norm a game of billiards. I beat him incidentally. We had our supper just before that and I thought that you would be sitting down for dinner at our place and boy did I ever wish that I was home.
I’m glad that you received the purse and like it. I really don’t know what to get you anymore dear you seem to have everything now. Well things have really been quiet since I last wrote you, I’m on duty watch as you know and can’t get off the station it really doesn’t bother me much because there is nothing for me to go off for anyway. Wednesday and Friday nights I went to the station show and Thursday and Saturday nights I was in bed by 10:30. Can you imagine that darling, Saturday night by 10:30? Do you remember all those Saturday nights that we used to spend together, I never got to bed before 2 o’clock Sunday morning Did I? Oh well we have an awful lot more ahead of us darling so we have a lot to look forward to. I certainly hated to home those nights darling and you almost had to put me out at times didn’t you? Yes sir those were the good old days.
Your Dad is quite welcome to those long underwear of mine dear, I haven’t had a look for them yet but I think that they are down here and when I find them I’ll send them home. I guess he wants then before Christmas because I could take them back home with me but if it turns cold in Toronto I guess he will want them.
I’m glad that you told Doris and Dot and my Aunts how you are dear. Dot will not be bothering you to go out dancing with her. I’m pleased to hear that you are baking things too darling and what have you decided about your job dear and also about going to the doctor? You said the you would go at the end of the month. I hate to be always after you like that honey but you know how much I love you and think about you and darling you mean more to me then anything else int he world.
I was going to phone you tonight dear but I didn’t know how long you would be staying at our place and so tell me what night would be convenient to phone you and I will. Some night when you will be at our place so I could say “hello” to my Mother too. So don’t forget to let me know in you next letter, a Tuesday or Thursday would be best I think because the lines aren’t so busy those nights.
So Doris is going to make the baby some clothes, that is certainly nice of her. I guess my Aunts and my mother will give her a few things to do. I kind of hope that it is a girl dear, because it will remind me of you but it really doesn’t matter and whatever God decided will be just fine for me.
I was at Church again this mooning dear and it was a real nice sermon and this afternoon I spelt 2-5 so that was this afternoon gone. It won’t be very long to Christmas dear and don’t be too surprised if Germany is out by then. The Russians are really out for the kill now and the news looks pretty good. Oh by the way dear they have cancelled the 28 days a year leave for this Army and I was that article in the Star so you don’t have to bother sending it down. I think that they are deciding that all 3 Services should all get the same leave right now and I wouldn’t be surprised if they made an announcement about it soon.
Has my Aunt and Uncle decided what they are going o do, I hope that they give up their place because it is really too big. But they couldn’t close it up for the winter and then again they wouldn’t like to rent it to anybody. Oh well we will see.
So you are filling out dear and just where I like it. You had better not say things like that to you will have my hopping the next train home. Yes sir I certainly miss you at nights darling and we certainly have a lot of loving to catch up on haven’t we dear? Oh well we have a long time ahead of us yet. But just wait until I get home for Christmas then oh boy. It is only 2 and a half months away so that isn’t bad at all.
Well I guess that is all for now honey, but I’ll write just as soon as I get you next letter and so for now all my love dear from the bottom of my heart.
Your very loving husband,
Well dear, here I am your wife who is getting bigger all the time. I am going to sit right down and write you a nice long letter as there is so much news that I will need to tell you that I think I will be using a whole pad of paper.
First dear, let me say thank you for the lovely purse that you sent down to me for my birthday, it is just lovely and I think it will look ever so smart when I go out with you once you are back for Christmas. It was such a nice surprise when it was delivered and I think that you spent too much money on the surprise but darling, I love it very much, almost as much as I love you so thank you from the bottom of my heart.
As it is Wednesday night and I have been working all week I have not had much time to do anything except go to work and come home and help Mother with Beverley who is having a terrible time with a cold. She has been up the last 2 nights crying and there is nothing that we can do to console her. I guess I should get used to this as when we have our little baby we will have to take turns getting up with them when they cry but I think I will not mind as much as I do now as I will not have to go to work the next day. Monday I was so tired by the time I got to work I think I actually had a wee nap on the streetcar as soon as I sat down.
Darling I want to let you know that I have started to tell a few people about my condition and those people are Doris, Dot and your aunts. Everyone was so excited for not only me, but for you as well. They were all saying that they cannot wait to see you with a baby as they know how fond you are of my little sister and that you love to take her on your knee and bounce her up and down until she is laughing. Doris said that she would knit some clothes for the baby and I thought that was such a kind gesture. I think that having the baby in home made clothes is always better than having something that is store bought, but at Eaton’s they have such lovely selection of baby clothes that I think I will be able to use my discount to buy some. Dot was so excited as well when I met her for lunch on Tuesday and she said that a baby is one of the happiest things in the entire world. She told me that she would love to drop by some time during Christmas when you are here so that we could all raise a glass of cheer to the arrival of our baby. You know Dot, always thinking about a party.
I have decided dear that I will go and see the doctor at the end of the month which should are it about 4 months along but the time I go and see him. I think going to my Mothers doctor is the best thing as we all know him and he will be very good to me.
I was speaking with my Pop on the weekend and he was asking me if you were using the long underwear that you took down with you last year. I am not sure if you re using them as you have never said anything about them so dear, I was thinking that if you are not using them that you could give them to my Pop as he does not have any and he will need some this winter. So dear think it over and let me know what you think.
I finally took some pictures darling and I hope to have them developed soon and I will send at least 5 down to you and I hope you like them. I think this will be the last time that I take some pictures of myself as I am filling out quite nicely as I move into my 4th month. I will leave it to your imagination dear on where I am filling out.
My Mom and Pop have not made any decisions yet on the Browning Ave place and I think that due to the time of year they are going to just let that one stay where it is for now as this will be a big decision and I think that my folks are not ready t make that final decision.
I ma glad that you are still going to the show dear and I think that picture you mentioned with Humphrey Bogart sounds like a dandy and maybe if it is here I will take it in with Jessie or Irene as Dot is not a person who really likes to go to the movies and Doris is often too busy with her sewing and knitting to be bothered on going out so I guess I will have to wait and see who can come along with me.
I am looking so forward to you coming home at Christmas I can hardly stand the wait but I have waited before for you to come home or for me to come down to you so this last 2 months hopefully will just go by so quickly and it will not be long before I am back with you dear.
So darling I will close now and I hope I have given you lots of news that you will be able to write back to me with lots of news from down there as well so dear, loving you more and more each day,
From your loving wife
Well dear I received your very nice letter on Monday dear and since I wrote you on Sunday I thought I would wait a couple of days until I had some news but things have been so very quiet this week that I am afraid this won’t be a particularly long letter.
I haven’t had a letter form my folks for a while now. They owe me a letter but I wrote one yesterday anyways. Tell them that I look forward to getting a letter just as much as they do so how about getting them cracking?
Well dear I went to the Navy show on Sunday night and had a fair time but I think that the Air Force show should be better. Mart Kenny was giving a show at the Forum the same night and if I had known that then I think I would rather have gone and heard him. Monday night I had to work until 1:15 or so and that finished that night for me. Last night I went to the station show and saw 2 really good pictures, one was “Action in the North Atlantic” with Humphrey Bogart and it was a dandy picture. I didn’t get out until 11:30 and so I was a little later getting to bed. I’m on duty watch so I won’t be going out but I have only been to one show downtown other than the Sunday afternoon ones, since I came back off leave.
Well honey I hope you are feeling well, have you been to the doctors yet? You said you would go you know so don’t forget will you and what are you going to do a bout your job? I want you to quit in a couple of weeks darling because you don’t have to work and I don’t want you to take any chances. So let me know what you are going to do in your next letter darling.
Do you realize that it is almost half time before I come home again, it seems to have gone pretty fast, not fast enough to suit me darling. I certainly miss you an awful lot darling and love you an awful lot more.
Did you speak to my mother about your folks taking over the Browning Ave place? But I guess it would be a lot of trouble for your folks with their furniture to be stored but it wouldn’t hurt to see what you could do because I know that if my Aunt and Uncle gave it i up they would like to get somebody like your Mom and Pop but it was just an idea anyways dear.
So you think that two bedrooms would be enough dear well I guess we could put all the children in one room at that darling. I hope that you are planning just the kind of place you want dear because that will be the first thing we do after the was and that is build ourselves a house. What kind of a bedroom suite do you want darling? Boy I’ll be the happiest guy in the world when we get our won place after this is all over and we start catching up on our loving.
I’m glad that you aren’t running around with Dot dear but I don’t see why you don’t tell her that you are expecting and that you can’t go dancing with her because it will save a lot of trouble. Oh darling do I ever wish I was home with you but I guess it is best the way it is because you are getting lots of rest and the best of foods and I want you to buy anything you desire dear.
Darling I want to thank you for going over to see my Mom and Pops once and a while they certainly look forward to seeing you because you are just like a daughter to them dear because they certainly think a lot of you darling and confidentially I think a lot of you myself.
Well dear I think that is about all for now so I’ll just close by saying all my love dear from a very lonely husband,
Well dear, I just received your lovely letter and I decided that I would sit right down and write you back so that I can get this letter in the evening mail and it will get to you soon.
In your letter you were talking about listening to the radio and all the wonderful songs that you are listening to and how they remind you of spending time at my house and how Mother was mad at you for telling me not to work. I can remember sitting in the front room or out on the porch and listening to the music and just talking for hours and hours and that seems so long ago doesn’t it dear? Well before you know it you will be home for Christmas and I am promising you that we will spend some time listening to the radio and we will dance, even if it is in our bedroom I will make sure to dance with you dear.
I have not starting my knitting but I have been thinking about it and I have started to look for some patterns that I can use and what colours I should be knitting with. I think that I will knit something in both blue and pink so that we have something in either case, but I think I would like to spend more time using the pink knitting dear, do you think that would be OK? Would you like me to knit something in pink?
I was out to the show the other night with Irene and Jessie after work and you would not even guess who we all ran into, but Dot from the office, you remember her don’t you dear, she was the wild one form work and the one who danced up a storm at our wedding. She actually looked lovely when I saw her and she made me promise that I would meet her for lunch the next day in the Eaton’s cafeteria. So the next day we met for lunch and we really had a nice time catching up on what all the news is. She told me about her new boss that she has been spending time with, he is divorced and he has 1 little boy. She is really excited about the time she has been spending with them and I think between you and me she has wedding bells ringing in her head. But Bill dear, I think that she his making more out of the situation than what is real as you and I both know what kind of men work in these offices and what they do with their secretaries but I will just leave that to your imagination which I know from experience is very active. I only wish her the best and she said that she would like to come around at Christmas and see you if that would be alright. I did not tell her the exciting news yet, but if we meet again soon I will let her in on our little secret.
Your Mother was speaking to me last night and she said that she had not received a letter form you in over a month so dear, please take the time to write you Mom and Pop and let them know how you are doing and give them something to talk about as they are missing you something awful. So dear please promise me that you will write them a few lines this week and then they will write back.
On our nightly walks with little Beverley we went to the park and you should see her run around with the other little kids that were there. She was so happy and laughing and giggling, it was such a drastic change to the little screaming Beverly that we are all used to listening to when she is going to be pout down for bed. It certainly was a nice change.
Bill dear, do you know for sure that you will be coming home for 5 days at Christmas? It would certainly be lovely if we could plan a party like we used to do and have everyone over and sing and dance and have some wonderful baked goods but I will leave that all to you to let me know in your next letter.
I will try and take some pictures for you dear as soon as I get some film for the camera.
Well dear I am running out of write paper and I will have to run to the store tomorrow and pick some up, so until then I will end with letting you know that I miss you more and more each day so hurry home as you little wife misses you and love you very very much.
All my love,
